     * The Sumerians held nature to be more important than human concepts. As the gods and goddesses of the Earth, Sun, and Moon came before any rulers of abstract human emotions such as love or fear. 

     * Mythology reveals a culture's sense of themselves and nature. 

     * Sumerians had both a God and Goddess for most element whereas other cultures seem to exclusify each aspect of nature to either an individual god or goddess. 

     * Zeus reveals true form to Semele and burns her to a crisp.
